How long approximately until I get a call back in regards to a job?

-I applied for a job, waited a week, and called to check up on the application and to show my interest in the job. The manager I spoke to was very helpful and gave me a lot of information. He advised that I call in another week or so. I waited a week, called again as he had advised, and the man I spoke to that time informed me that the applications had been sent to the district manager's office and that they were planning on calling me for an interview. He wished me the best of luck and I hung up cheerfully. That was a Thursday. It has since been almost two weeks.



If anyone knows how long it should be taking to expect to hear back from them, that would be appreciated. Or likewise, does the lack of additional communication mean they've chosen to go with another candidate?



It's for a job in retail, if that is any addtional help.So did you not even get an interview?? I hate it when people hiring say oh we will call you by this certain day, or I'll definitely look at your app and consider you...when they don't. It's plain rude!



Call them tomorrow explaining that one of the guys you talked to said you were to be considered for an interview. Ask them if they are still interested in meeting with you and let them know you're still interested in the job. But they may have already found someone, since it's been that long. Call tomorrow just to make sure! :)
