-I've been working at McDonald's since February, but I received the job in December and I want to quit. I was given a really crap training program, so sometimes I'd not know how to do something and be blamed for it, or I'd do something as I've been taught and it was wrong again. Before every shift I am literally sick to the stomach and up until I sign in, I want to ring up with and excuse to get out of it.
On top of that it's been stressful for me dealing with that, and the workload for such low pay. I got into trouble (sort of, not serious or anything) on Thursday night and told that the manager will ring me up in a couple of days. That night I broke down with all the stress of that and other things that have been mounting up and just cried.
I'm seriously thinking about telling the manager when she rings up that I want to quit. But how do I go about quitting? How do I avoid awkward questions like "Why do you want to quit?"? Should I even put my time at McDonald's on my resume for another job?Just quit, its not worth your stress.. you need to be happy with a job and I know how this feels. I've delt with fast food joints, like KFC and I also had that same sick feeling in my stomach when I went in and quit twice on the phone before I got a better job. All that happened in just 2 months of being there in 2006. You don't deserve this treatment and usually these type of jobs aren't the best to get into and the managing is disappointing. You'll feel so relieved once you leave and forget about all this mess!! So, just leave while you can!! Be strong and brave and have a backup plan!!
Using McDonald's on your resume is up to you, I still put down all my past jobs even if I had bad times with them, especially if it's 6 months experience. If it was 2 weeks, you wouldn't need to.
When you call up your boss, try to calmly tell her that you're looking for a better job opportunity and thank her for the job and experience. I know through my experience, they would try to get you to come back, don't. You know you're not happy, just keep telling them thanks and you're already looking for another job.
Once you apply again for another job and land an interview, you can just tell the employer the same thing, you were looking for another job opportunity and experience other jobs out there on the market.
Best of luck to you and don't worry too much, just relax and you'll get through the quitting part! Take it day by day after that.Welcome to the real world sweetie.
eww
I support you
