-My guess is that im going to need a Laptop that is very rugged and durable since I will be on a construction site, supervising the over-all construction of houses. I was considering a brand like Panasonic or Motorola. More like something that can stand torrential downpours and falls from a table or some sort. Do Architects have a mobile office in their truck with a Panasonic Toughbook already mounted inside and they work at the construction site? Also, do architects visit clients' houses and discuss details about the overall project and their house design all on a laptop?Yes to all of your questions.
You should consider being a builder instead of an architect. You get to drive a truck with lots of cool tools, and you meet with people about what you will be building and how the progress is going.
If you're going to be an architect, you need to get a graduate degree in architecture. That will take two years. Since you've already missed the application deadline for a September start, it's going to be at least three years before you start. By then, whatever laptop you buy now will be outdated, so don't buy your toughbook yet.
