Is it safe to look for a job n the internet?

-is it safe to put my social security number???The US Dept. of Commerce did research and found that only 1 in 57 job offers on the internet was legitimate. The rest were scams. So if you apply for a job over the internet, be extremely careful. Once your personal information is given away, you never know who will use it to apply for credit cards and the such in your name.
As long as the employer is an established employer and not one of these online "jobs".
