Can I claim jobseekers allowance straight away if Im forced to shut my business down?

-I live in UK. I know that if you get sacked from a job you can claim jobseekers allowance straight away, but if you leave a job of your own accord you have to wait a few weeks.

I want to know if you are self employed and you shut your business down because its making no money and you can't afford the costs to run it anymore, do they grant you jobseekers allowance straight away, or would I have to wait a few weeks?Go to the benefit office as soon as you can ..they'll know better than people on here...I think you may have to prove that you had no choice but to cease trading. You will only get JSA if you have been paying the higher rate of NI contributions. If not it will be Income support if you have no other income.

Unfortunately they class this as making yourself unemployed, no matter how much debt you are in.

UK

EDIT. That sounds like the lower rate of NI. It is not going to be easy as ththey will still say you have made yourself jobless even if you have NO income. Phone them before you go any further.
Doubt it - but the only people who can give you a definite are the JobCentre.
