Is a career as financial planner right for me?

-Is a career as a financial planner right for me?

Hello,

I'm 23 and I have a BA in Psychology. After spending a couple of months working at a locked psychiatric unit and I've decided that a career in psychology isn't right for me.

I'm now looking at a career in financial advising, and in business in general. I believe that I'll enjoy a career in this field because I genuinely like working with people and helping them. In addition, I believe I have what it takes to be successful.

However, my big question is how much is prior knowledge in business/finance necessary? And a lot of the insurance companies that I'm looking at provide training but are 100% commission. Which bring me to the next question. I've heard that having a book of business or knowing a lot of people is helpful in order to hit the ground running. I barely know my family and don't have a big group of friends plus they're my age which means they probably won't think about financial planning anytime soon.

I believe that I have the skills, motivation, ambition, and the tenacity to do this. However, how long will it be until I can make a living out of this given my circumstances.

CategoryIf you really looking to make your career as a financial planner then go ahead. You can do better if you are interested in this field.
