-during high school I've enjoyed all my science classes i am a senior and i was planning on finishing my basics then majoring in musical theater. I recently overheard my parents talking and it looks like they are barely able to pay the bills with very little money left and my dad might have to retire early because he is a pilot and has high blood pressure and psoriasic arthritis and he was asking my mom to study into a new field. So it looks like to go to school i will have to be paying for it myself. So I'm thinking of getting an associates in nursing so ill be able to start working right away but i was wondering if i would keep being able to go to school studying musical theater. I just need to have means to support myself to go to school. Any help is greatly appreciated I'm really nervous now i don't want to give up my hobbies but it looks like i might have to.As a RN you would be able to work as a staff nurse in a hospital setting for 3 12 hours shifts a week & be considered full time. You can also probably find a position as a weekend nurse; ie Fri, Sat & Sun every week leaving you Mon-Thur to pursue your musical theater degree.
And as far as Associate's vs BSN it really isn't that different & isn't hard to find a job as an Associate's degree RN, what really matters is that you pass boards & have a license. For my pay & years experience as a Associate's degree RN vs my husband's pay & years of experience as a BSN RN it's comparably the same. He didn't even receive a raise when he graduated the BSN program because he was already topped out for his position. For the debt you will incur in 2 years and the face that you aren't planning on making a career out of nursing you will be fine with an Associate's degree.yes
depends on the standard u set for yourself
An Associates degree isn't incredibly in demand right now in most areas. I strongly recommend that you take some time to look through classified ads to see what people are hiring; I can guarantee that most want BSN or better.
If you work in a clinic setting, then your hours will be typically business hours. However, you will NOT be able to disappear for 3 hours to run to an audition.
Basically, it sounds like you are looking for a nursing job for someone with minimal education and who only wants to work part time. You never know - you may be able to find it. Check things out in the classified ads to see if it's even feasible. If not, then start applying for scholarships, grants, and financial aid.
