What are the pros and cons of having a switchboard job?

-Just considering a position where this is an aspect of what I do....never worked a switchboard before - was just wondering if its fun - a bore - ??If you like working in a fast-paced environment and like being on the phone constantly then it's the perfect job for you, but if you are not one of those type of people then it wouldn't be a good job for you.
